Scottie Scheffler Wins 2026 Masters In Dramatic Final Round...

Scottie Scheffler claimed his second Masters title Sunday after a thrilling back-nine battle at Augusta National. The world No. 1 held off a charging Rory McIlroy by two strokes to finish at 14-under par, cementing his status as golf's dominant force.

The victory comes exactly two years after Scheffler's first Masters win in 2024. The 29-year-old Texan becomes just the 18th player to win multiple green jackets, joining an elite group that includes Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jack Nicklaus.

Sunday's final round delivered high drama as McIlroy erased a four-shot deficit with birdies on 13, 15 and 16. But Scheffler responded with clutch par saves on 17 and 18, including a 12-foot putt on the final hole that sealed the win.

The tournament is trending nationwide as Americans celebrate another major championship for Scheffler, who has now won four of the last eight majors. Social media erupted with reactions from fellow pros and celebrities, with Tiger Woods tweeting: "Special performance from a special player."

Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley called it "one of the most compelling Masters finishes in recent memory" during the green jacket ceremony. Scheffler's win earns him $3.24 million from the tournament's $20 million purse, the largest in Masters history.

Golf fans are particularly engaged this year as the Masters returned to its traditional April date after weather-related schedule changes in 2025. CBS reported its highest Sunday ratings since 2019, with peak viewership during the final hour reaching 15.2 million.

Scheffler now turns his attention to next month's PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, where he'll attempt to win his third consecutive major. The victory solidifies his case as potentially the best American golfer since Woods in his prime.
