Rory McIlroy Wins 2026 Masters, Completing Career Grand Slam...

Rory McIlroy made history Sunday by winning the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National, finally capturing the elusive green jacket to complete the career Grand Slam. The 36-year-old Northern Irishman closed with a 4-under 68 to finish at 14-under par, two strokes ahead of defending champion Scottie Scheffler.

The victory makes McIlroy just the sixth golfer ever to win all four modern major championships - the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and British Open. He joins golf legends Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods in achieving the career Grand Slam.

McIlroy's triumph comes after 12 previous attempts to win at Augusta, where he had recorded seven top-10 finishes but never broke through. His emotional final-round performance included clutch birdies on holes 13, 15, and 16 to hold off Scheffler's late charge.

The win is trending across U.S. sports media as one of golf's most anticipated career milestones finally being achieved. McIlroy had been open about how much completing the Grand Slam meant to him, calling it "the last box to check" in his storied career.

Augusta National erupted in cheers as McIlroy tapped in for par on 18, with the normally reserved golfer breaking into tears of joy. His wife Erica and their two young children joined him on the green for the emotional celebration.

The victory solidifies McIlroy's place among golf's all-time greats and caps a remarkable comeback after he briefly considered retirement following a slump in 2023. His win marks the first Masters victory by a European player since Spain's Sergio Garcia in 2017.

McIlroy will return to defend his title next April at the 2027 Masters, where he'll attempt to become just the fourth player to win back-to-back green jackets. For now, golf fans are celebrating one of the sport's most popular players finally conquering his last remaining challenge.
