Powerball Jackpot Hits $500 Million As Players Await Winning Numbers...

The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $500 million ahead of tonight's drawing, sparking a frenzy of ticket sales across the U.S. The winning numbers for the April 23 drawing will be announced at 10:59 p.m. ET, with millions hoping to claim the ninth-largest prize in the game's history.

This marks the 36th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner, driving the prize to its highest level since January 2024. The cash option stands at $241.7 million before taxes, according to Powerball officials. Players in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are eligible to participate.

The jackpot is trending nationwide as last-minute buyers flood retailers and social media buzzes with lottery strategies. If won, the prize would rank among the top 20 largest U.S. lottery payouts ever. Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Recent winners include a $1.08 billion jackpot claimed in California last July and a $842 million prize won in Michigan this January. The odds of hitting the jackpot remain 1 in 292.2 million. Secondary prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million are also up for grabs tonight.

Lottery officials remind winners they have 60 days to 1 year to claim prizes, depending on state rules. The current jackpot run began after a Pennsylvania player won $206.9 million on February 14. Tonight's numbers will be posted on powerball.com immediately after the drawing.
