Amber Alert Issued For Missing Child In Thomasville, GA...

An Amber Alert was activated early Sunday morning for a missing child in Thomasville, Georgia, sparking a statewide search. Authorities are seeking 8-year-old Jamal Carter, last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and black shorts near his home on East Jackson Street.

The Thomasville Police Department confirmed the alert at 3:15 AM after Jamal’s mother reported him missing. Investigators believe he may have been abducted by a non-custodial family member driving a gray 2015 Honda Accord with Georgia license plate BRT9821.

Residents across southern Georgia reported receiving emergency alerts on their phones by sunrise. Social media platforms amplified the search, with #FindJamal trending locally by mid-morning. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has joined the case.

“We’re urging everyone in the Thomas County area to check surveillance cameras and report any sightings immediately,” said Police Chief Timothy Watkins during a 9 AM press conference. Roadblocks have been set up along Highway 319 and Interstate 75.

This marks the third Amber Alert issued in Georgia this month, following similar cases in Atlanta and Macon. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reports over 300 active missing child cases statewide.

Thomasville City Schools announced counselors will be available Monday for students affected by the disappearance. Jamal attends Thomasville Elementary School, where staff described him as “a bright kid who loves math.”

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Thomasville PD tip line at (229) 227-3245. The alert remains active across Alabama and Florida border regions as of noon Sunday.
